This is the Season of Faith – No more gotta have it in your pocket or in your hand before you make a move . . .  That’s not what God is calling us to right now.

“Have you not known? Have you not heard?  The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary.  His understanding is unsearchable . He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might, He increases strength.  Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord, shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:28-31.

We’ve had to lean on that verse like never before. In the beginning of the year, our oldest son, decided after reading the literature of Teen Missions International  (TMI), that he would like to go on a short-term missions trip. His father and I asked him to prayerfully consider if this is what God would have him do.  He got back to us and said that he believed God had answered his prayer with a yes. So we said ok. Shortly after sending in the initial paperwork, my husband was let go from his job. No warning of any kind, just showed up to work and was told that day that it was his last day. Whoa!! Things came to a screeching halt. What’s this? Out of the blue – it hit us like a ton of bricks . . .

It took faith to continue to plan for Fela’s trip by sending in the initial security deposit knowing we had no income to pay for the upcoming trip. (I am a homeschooling mom and had previously retired from my job in December.)  We knew we would have to trust God every step of the way to provide for Fela, since He had put the desire in Fela’s heart and we had given him our consent.  We prayed on it and felt a peace in knowing God had a plan.

In March,  the letters went out as planned to family, friends and our brothers and sisters in Christ, sharing with them what the Lord had laid on Fela’s heart and the overall cost to make a trip out of the country. The cost of the trip and related expenses was close to $4000.

Fela left June 12th for Orlando to attend Boot camp and then travel to Ecuador. Every dollar he needed was provided and then some extra for spending money. What we hadn’t realized at first, was that God had ALREADY went ahead of Fela and had provided for him by placing it on the hearts of people to give.

We didn’t have to beg, stress or worry about it. GOD DID THE WORK. We just had to take the first step by believing in Him and walking in it. Yes, we had to write letters and let people know what were Fela’s plans.  We had to do something, but He had placed the desire in Fela’s heart and therefore He would complete the work to bring it to fruition. “Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead,” James 2:17.

A lot of times we’re doing things in our own strength and not in God’s.  He is our Strength (Psalm 46:1). Go to Him. Pray and ask Him first what He would have you do and He will lead you. Most of us do it backward. We pray after we’ve done all we can, and then say “All I can do now is pray.”

Fela has been in Ecuador for a month, evangelizing and sharing Christ with the people in Latacunga and surrounding areas. He has learned valuable lessons in time management, team work, life skills, construction, the value of hard work and not taking things for granted. Most importantly, God has done a work in his heart. He has learned the value of having private time with God and how important that is in our decisions and day to day walk.

These words were taken from his journal posted on the TMI website July 22nd, 2010 “I had to work on my verse review early in the morning since I ran out of time the day before. I prayed to God to keep me sharp for my verse review. It turned out that I did exceptionally well and missed only one verse. The rest of the day was filled with work. We mixed and poured concrete for the sidewalks, which was very satisfying.”

Fela comes home Saturday, July 31st and I am looking forward to all that God has done in him. He has had to rely on God during this whole trip; something I know he’ll remember throughout his lifetime.

As far as I can remember, I have been a lover of words . . . I like the twisting and turning of sounds and letters. I often relish in the meaning behind them, trying to unlock the history of the words and make connections as to why this place, person or thing was given this word to represent them.

Some of my earliest memories of the fulfillment writing can bring are from junior high school. I won $40 in my first essay contest. I hadn’t even really thought about winning, and with my mother’s  encouragement,  I decided to give it a try. From there I won countless other essay contests totaling over $200! I was honored by being asked to recite one of my essays at a scholarship banquet.

God showed this once nervous, and insecure girl something that day; not only was I good at writing, but I could speak it as well. I became more comfortable with public speaking and writing by my participation in other local contests. Later, being honored in Who’s Who Among Senior High Writers, various poetry anthologies and local publications, I knew that writing was a gift. What I didn’t realize at that age however, was that it is a gift from God.

After high school, I studied journalism in college becoming  Features Editor and later News Editor for the university paper. I also began taking pictures and studied photography as a second major.  This led to the eventual start of a home-based business, combining my love of poetry and photography to create personal greeting cards, calendars, bookmarks and other crafts, all while teaching English at a public high school. Creating personal poems for co-workers, family and friends was a blessing I truly enjoyed.

God has gifted me with a loving, God-fearing man who has a heart for the lost and for missions. We share a desire to sow the word of God in the lives of others so that the body of Christ may bear good fruit – the kind that remains,  so the lost will come to know our God.  Our four children have caught this vision as well and we are on our way, following the Lord in this faith walk as He leads us in this season.

Join us on this journey filled with green pastures, valleys, rivers and mountains. What else can we ask for?  It’s the adventure of a lifetime . . .

It’s funny to me to have this website.  In fact, I am truly amazed.  God has done a miracle in my life and today it’s WalkingFaithfully.com.  Now don’t get me wrong, I have been blessed with miracles before this.  I have seen the miraculous in my life.  But, little ‘ole me, founder, editor, and walker of any website is above and beyond anything that I could have asked for or thought.

As I praise God for His infinite wisdom in placing me in this place today, I am handing it all back over to Him.  I would not have fathomed this for myself.  So, I know it is God’s doing.  And, therefore, He must take care of it.  It’s amusing that when God calls us to do something and we accept, it usually is too big for us to get our mind around. We are dumbfounded.  We are off of your game.  We ask God questions like where do I begin or how do I accomplish this thing?  And, God has all of those answers prepared for each of us before they come out of our mouths.  When we place our hands in His and say lead me Lord, I’ll go, He takes over and gives each of us instruction along the way.  We must just follow it.

And, so I am. As I was spending time with God, He began to show me a piece of Psalm 127.  All He gave me to start were two words quiver full.  I instantly thought He was going to give me insight about His instructions about our children.  But, of course, God never went in the direction I expected.  He showed me something new and insightful about how I am used to further His kingdom.

After I remembered, of course I used my concordance to find it, where the scripture appeared in the Bible, God told me to review the whole chapter.  So, I found verse 1 to say “unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.”  God wants us to know that He is the one who placed our callings in our lives.  He is the one who controls our callings.  And, most importantly our callings are His to protect and build, not ours.

Reading on, I discovered the verse to say” in vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for He grants sleep to those He loves.”  I thought this was interesting because here in America, we are taught early to bed, early to rise, make a man healthy, wealthy and wise.  We are also taught that we need to work more hours than the next person to be successful.  God doesn’t want us to be consumed with our calling.  We are to take reasonable time with it.   We are  to take times of rest, enjoy our family and friends, take vacations that leaves our work behind, and just spend time doing other things including home chores.  God will ensure that we are successful in our calling.

Next, Psalms 127:3 says “sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him.”  Our calling is God’s heritage.  It’s His legacy on earth, in Spirit, and through Heaven.  The children which are the fruit or rather byproducts of our calling are His reward.  Those people who become saved because we walked in our calling.  Those people who have a better walk with Christ because they met you.  Those things are God’s rewards when we are performing in our calling.

God furthers tells us in Psalms 127:4 that our calling is like a warrior with his weapons at ready.  Its exact wording is “like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth.”  Understand that this warrior is prepared for battle.  Because he is prepared, he will win.  Our callings are God’s weapons and He will win the battles with the enemy through us.  Now, don’t be scared about this. Please know that God wins the war.

Then, I finally get to the words that God gave me at the beginning – quiver full.  They are found in Psalms 127:5 which reads,” blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.”  God is blessed by us when we are acting in our callings.  He is happy because His quiver is full.  We should be walking in our blessing and happiness because our callings are in God’s quiver.  A quiver is the case an archer uses to carry or hold his arrows.  The archer uses her arrows to take out her target.  We are apart of God’s arsenal of attack on the enemy.  He uses each of us to demolish His enemy.  Therefore, we should not be ashamed of our calling.  Our God will handle our adversaries.  He will uplift our calling and control it and expand it.

We just need to allow Him to do all that He will do with our calling.  That is the hard part – giving it back to God.  But, it’s also the easiest part.  See God is the only one who can make our calling accomplish all that it is designed to do.  We can’t do it.  Our friends and family can’t do it.  Only God.  So with that I will quickly and completely hand back to Him my calling concerning WalkingFaithfully.com.  I know in His hands, it will accomplish and be all that it is to be.

Enjoy!

Well, here I go.  This is a crazy leap of faith for me to begin a website.  When I was told by God that He wanted me to write, I did not know how the journey would look.  Now, many years later, I am discovering a new side to this follow the Lord’s instruction thing.

Now don’t go thinking that I was holier than thou when the Lord spoke to me.  Of course not, that would not be me.  But,  I did say ok Lord, send me I’ll go.  Then, I started with all of the questions.  How, why, when, where, and the most important which is WHAT?????!!!

But, here it is.  Another venue to write.  At times, I take the bull by the horns and run with it.  And, at times, I get off the horse and refuse to make the journey.  Then there are those other times, when I just look at the beast in the pasture and thank the Lord that today I can’t go up and be bothered with that.  And, the Lord gives me peace about it because He knows I need a rest.

So today, we journey making footprints through Walking Faithfully.com.  I pray you find exactly what you need throughout its pages.

Enjoy and come back often to leave your footprints throughout.
