“Through patience a ruler can be persuaded and a gentle tongue can break a bone,” Proverbs 25:15

Be patient with the change you want to see.  Soften your tongue.  Just like the old wise tale you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar.  You are going to have to speak kindly.

The people in your lives are strong but they need to know you love them – they are wanted, needed, and valued.  You love them so much but change doesn’t come with harshness but change comes with love.  Give an atmosphere of love.  In an environment of love, we all change.

A soft tongue can break bones.  A soft tongue can break strongholds.  A soft tongue can mold and hold.  Try a soft tongue and patience.  It works!

“If you falter in times of trouble how small is your strength,” Proverbs 24:10

There will come times of tragedy.  The will come times of battles and wars for you to fight.  And, if you falter or stumble or give up, then your strength is small.  Your faith is small.  Your joy is small.

It means you do not believe God is who He says is.  It means you do not believe who God says you are.  It means you have placed God in a box that is of your own doing.

God is bigger than any box big or small that you could put Him in.  He can do anything, especially the impossible.  He is in control.  And, you can do anything because He does it through you for His glory.  All you need is faith of a mustard seed to accomplish it.

So, do not falter.  Stand tall.  Fight the fight that is called upon you.  And, remember to begin, stand, and end in prayer and praise to the Heavenly Father.  For your strength is meant to be huge.  You are meant to sustain throughout the times of trouble and battle.  Stand and fight.   Stand tall and fight, now!

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment.  The one who fears is not made perfect in love,” 1 John 4:18

The Greek word for perfect is “telios” which speaks of a state of completeness mentally or morally.   And “phebomai” the Greek word for fear, means to be put in fear; alarm, fright or terror.  Today I’d like us to examine this perfect love that is being offered to us through Jesus Christ and what it means to the child of God.  Also, how should this truth affect the way that the child of God lives?

First, this love is from above and it comes to us from God.  When He sets His love upon us we were still in our sins, we did not deserve it.  And we will never be able as long as we live to repay the debt that we owe Almighty God for sending His Son Jesus Christ to die upon the cross for our sins (1 John 4: 9-10).

Second, this love is complete; every thing that the Lord allows in our life will ultimately be for our good.  This is unlike the conditional love that is often reflected in this world. The love that says, as long as you are good to me I’ll be good to you.  Or I’ll love you as long as. . . .

In Matthew 26:69-74, we see the apostle Peter cowering in fear before a servant girl and others standing by and he denies that he knows Christ three times. There is no doubt that Peter loved Jesus Christ but he was probably contemplating that he would be imprisoned or worse crucified with Christ. Peter was unable to see the future clearly, his eyes were dim and his heart overcome by the fear which is never of God.

Sometimes our eyes also become dim and our perception of the future is blurred by the difficulties that we face. And in an effort to steer our lives and regain some control we decide to fix things ourselves and walk in our own wisdom. When gripped by fear, we forget that God loves us unconditionally; and if he gave his only son to die for us, while still in our sinful state, how will he not make a way out of the situation for us?  Proverbs 29:35 says “the fear of man will prove to be a snare but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.”

Find your rest, peace and comfort in this truth, child of the living God. Do not fear what any man can do to you; do not let their contempt or jeers stifle the light of Christ within you. But live out loud with the assurance that you are loved unconditionally at all times by the one who created the universe by His very word.  What can man do to you?

I don’t know about you, but I often struggle with patience, control and timing.  I want things done a specific way and I want them now. God places this great vision on my life, He shows me the steps He wants me to take, I take them. He blesses the situation and just when I think, “Oh, ya, it’s time”! Woo Hoo! I am about to get my breakthrough, He says “Ok, now wait”! WHAT? WHY?

God, don’t you know I don’t have the strength to fight this battle any more?  Don’t you know I need this to happen because of all the other things that have failed in my life? Don’t you know I have rent to pay and people to impact? Don’t you know that my car note is due and I am tired? Don’t you want me to be successful? Don’t you want me to be blessed? Don’t you want me? Have you forgotten about me? GOD! Are you listening?

Answer:

My daughter, I know you better than you know yourself! I created you! I know the beginning and the end! If you would just have faith! If you would just learn this lesson. If you would just not make this about YOU, I could DO what I said I would do…I AM ABLE!

“So be patient, brethren, [as you wait] till the coming of the Lord.  See how the farmer waits expectantly for the precious harvest from the land. [See how] he keeps up his patient [vigil] over it until it receives the early and late rains.  So you also must be patient.  Establish your hearts [strengthen and confirm them in the final certainty], for the coming of the Lord is very near,” James 5:7-8

He’s ABLE and He WILL!

James 2:23 says “and the scripture was fulfilled which says, “And Abraham believed God and it was reckoned to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God”

You are my God

My Savior, my Friend

I’ll trust and believe in You

Until I see the end

You are my God

My Savior, my Friend

I’ve found a new hope that lies

Deep within

You are my God

My Savior, my Friend

Your grace and mercy flows

It will never end

You are my God

My Savior my Friend

You give joy and peace

Like no other friend

You are my God

My Savior my Friend

All I want is to be in Your presence

Over and over and time and time again

You are MY GOD

MY SAVIOR

MY FRIEND

I will love and trust you til the end

“Do not withhold discipline from a child, if you punish him with the rod, he will not die,” Proverbs 23:13

It really is OK to discipline your children.  Proverbs 23:14 says, “Punish him with the rod and save his soul from death.” The discipline of saved parents is to save a child from eternal death.  We are not to be afraid of the child or authorities reaction to our discipline.  It is our God given right to discipline our children with a rod (spanking).  We are doing it to save our children’s souls.  This is not an endorsement of child abuse but an endorsement of discipline.

Discipline comes in many forms: time outs, take away items, not pursing things for the child, and spanking.  Spanking is of God.  You know, He virtually spanks us too.  And, we are to spank our own children.  This is a tool to save them from eternal death.  But, remember that discipline should be varied.  So, don’t be afraid to discipline.  Do it today.

“Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life,” Proverbs 22:4

Do you have humility?  Do you truly fear the Lord?  Are you so afraid of disappointing Him that you watch every step you take?  Nope, most of us do not.

We sometimes get caught up in quarrels.  We sometimes become proud of the things we accomplish.  These things are alright if they flow from the Lord – if we realize that God has brought you to this place and this is what He wants you to do.

But, if we don’t recognize God’s faithful hand in all that we accomplish – if we don’t recognize that God is the one leading us – then we are not humble before the Lord and we don’t have fear of the Lord.  And, so we are unable to obtain the wealth, honor, and life God has for us.

God’s wealth – So, we will never hunger.  God’s honor – So, His glory can be revealed to others.  God’s life – So, we will never die.  If you want to be wealthy, honored, and live, you must be humble and fearful of God, today.  Now!

Happy Thanksgiving Walkers!!!

Some weeks ago, I asked you all to write a list of what you are thankful for, as well as think about how you are going to share with someone today and weeks to come. I had an aha moment of how great it is to share with someone.

My seven year old niece invited me to the annual Grandparent/VIP Guest Day. Since, none of the grandparents were available and the parents could not leave work, Auntie Tosh filled in. I was told she was so excited, and she kept double checking to make sure I would be there. As I made my way to the entry of her classroom….this little girl’s face just lit up as if she had an experience with Jesus.  It was such a wonderful experience. My niece read a poem that she made up out of my name. Can you say SPEECHLESS ? !!!!

Walkers, this very experience showed me of how IMPORTANT our presence is in others lives. There was some students who did not have a loved one or support system for them to read their poem. We should NEVER underestimate our presence in another persons life. When we have the free will to show up…LETS DO IT!!!

Share your TIME today. That appears to be a gift that will NEVER go out of style. I am sure it makes GOD smile, when WE assist him. Enjoy your day and I look forward to journaling with you, AGAIN! :-)

Popcorn & Ice Tea !!!

“And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,” Ephesians 5:18-20

Today the Holiday Season begins.  Over the month, we will celebrate the birth of Our Lord, Savior, and Redeemer.  Shortly, thereafter, we will celebrate a new year.  Most will gather with their families and loved ones in this season to reflect on past memories and to make new memories.  The Holiday Season is indeed upon us.  Yet, the kickoff to this new season is “Thanksgiving Day.”

Before we celebrate Christmas or the New Year, we will first give thanks.  Before, we make new memories, we will express our gratitude for the memories that God has given us.  In essence, before God does something new in our lives, we will thank Him for what He has already done.  As wonderful as it is that we set aside this particular day to celebrate God’s faithfulness with our families, this should in fact be a way of life for us.

God is ever faithful and worthy of our praise.  He continually meets our physical, emotional, financial, mental, social, and spiritual needs.  He never has left us.  He never abandoned us or rejected us.  He constantly forgives us.  He continually blesses us.  He sustains us, sanctifies us, purifies us, and glorifies us.  He unconditionally loves us.  He protects us, empowers us, and secures us in His loving arms.  He providentially takes care of us.  He keeps us in our right mind, when life tosses us to and fro.

One day is not adequate enough to give Him the praise He deserves.  The 4th Thursday in November doesn’t do any justice for what God does day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, and decade after decade.  We must make praise a priority.  We cannot simply thank God today but rather everyday.

Dear Lord,

Before You do anything else tomorrow, we want to say thank You today for what You did yesterday.  Lord, You have been so good to us.  If we had ten thousand tongues, we still couldn’t thank You enough for Your Son giving us salvation, protection, peace, healing, deliverance, eternal life.  You are so worthy and we thank You.  We love You.  Thank You for what You have done, what You are doing, and what You will do.  You are everything we need, and everything we can ever want.  We love You today.

In Jesus Name,

Amen

I am wishing everyone a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving time. I pray that your day will be bountiFULL of peace, happiness, joy, and great fellowship for you. I pray that as the day progresses and words of gratitude are expressed back and forth, that those same words and sentiments will not be left on Thanksgiving day.

Take them with you into your future. Find a way and make the time to express your gratitude daily (to the Lord), weekly (to someone you appreciate), and monthly (to someone who you love). It’s too often that the words “I’m thankful for” or “I appreciate” go left unsaid. Too many times, people assume that being grateful is “a given.”

If we can purposely tell the Lord (who we cannot see) how thankful and grateful we are for His blessings, grace, and mercy – surely we can also purposely tell someone in or around our lives that we appreciate them: be it for something they’ve done, said, or meant in our lives. I pray that this season, more of us will be anointed with spirits of THANKS and of GIVING, and that everyone who has a heart after God’s, will see themselves grow in this area.

Picture yourself with a plate full of food on Thanksgiving day. Many people will have come with a wonderful dish prepared that they wish to share with everyone during this great feast. You have so much to choose from and it’s exciting. You’re going to enjoy some of your favorites as well as sample a few new things. And there’s always enough left over for you to take home with you and enjoy all over again. You eat until you’re full, and then you eat some more.

Now, imagine showing up to your job, your school, or even your home where your family is – and bringing with you a wonderful word of thanks and appreciation for someone. You’ve taken time to look over your life and you see example after example of how the people in your life have blessed you in some way. You also notice that you really haven’t expressed your appreciation appropriately. So, on the day after Thanksgiving, and the day after that, and so on – decide to show up with a bountiFULL mouth filled with praise, thanks, and appreciation.

Have some of your old favorites: ["thank you for your help the other day"], but also have a few new ones: ["I was just remembering that time in my life when I was feeling so low and you came by and brought me homemade chicken soup to cheer me up. I don't think I ever told you but that REALLY made a difference in my life. Thank you for caring THAT much!"]. Imagine how full you could make someone’s life if you filled their space with your words of thanks and appreciation. Their spiritual plate would be overflowing!

What are you bringing to the table this year? Maybe you weren’t planning on bringing a thing, or maybe it was going to be a small sample. How about changing it up this year and bringing a customized, personalized, bountiFULL word of thanks, encouragement, appreciation and honor to God and the people in your life. And not just for one day either. You can provide this gift daily, weekly, monthly.

Be not only blessed this season, be a blessing too!
